The challenge for this environmental design project was to refresh Café Strudel’s branding and interior-exterior design while preserving its charm as a beloved West Columbia staple. The goal was to enhance the restaurant’s layout, signage, and overall ambiance to create a more inviting, functional, and visually cohesive space. Cafe Strudel attracts a diverse mix of locals, brunch lovers, and travelers seeking a cozy, welcoming dining experience. The redesign needed to improve way-finding, optimize seating arrangements, and refine the brand’s identity without losing its nostalgic, community-driven feel. The updated design features a refreshed vintage-inspired logo, modernized interior and exterior signage, and a more efficient layout that enhances traffic flow. Key elements include warm, textured materials, hand-lettered signage, and subtle nods to the café’s history woven into the décor. The exterior branding utilizes a mix of classic and contemporary elements to maintain recognition while feeling revitalized. By balancing modern efficiency with timeless character, this project successfully breathes new life into Café Strudel while honoring its roots. The refreshed design creates a more enjoyable experience for customers, reinforcing the café’s reputation as a must-visit spot in West Columbia.
